Scale Project #2: "Miniature Room Design"

Miniatures Powerpoint 

Create a miniature model of a room of your choice.

Your room will include 2 walls (creating a corner), a floor, furnishings and wall décor 
-some room options include: Living room, bedroom, game room, sunroom, kitchen, garage, bathroom, etc.

1. You will first brainstorm and research for ideas and designs (Miniature Room Brainstorm Worksheet)
2. Create a small paper model
3. Create your design 3-Dimensionally in clay

Craftsmanship – Sculpture is neatly assembled and well presented.  Well crafted with clay techniques and professionalism
Composition – All sides are given equal attention.  Sculpture is viewed in the round.  Interesting set up of room, furniture and wall/floor décor.
Scale –Proper proportions and scale for the miniature.
Productivity – Efficient use of class time, project shows your best effort.  Took time and worked quietly and efficiently.
Creativity – Unique representation of your personal space.  Thoughtful approach to create an interesting display to attract the interest of the viewer.

Scale Project #1: "Zoom In to Abstract"

1. Find an image from a magazine with interesting colors, patterns, textures and/or designs.
2. Use a 1"x1" viewfinder to crop out a 1" box from the magazine page.
3. Begin sketching 1" image onto 16"x16" pastel paper, use the "X" grid method as necessary to help enlarge the original image.
4. Use pastels to add color, blend pastels to match original colors as close as possible

Craftsmanship – Image is neat and well presented.  No grid lines visible.  Pastels are applied neatly, no smudges.
Creativity– Chose an interesting and challenging viewpoint, which abstracts original   image.  Considered placement and color choice.
Scale – Proper grid proportions and scale for the enlargement.  Accurately matched color and proportions from original image.
Productivity – Efficient use of class time, project shows your best effort.  Took time and worked quietly and efficiently.
Composition – Image fills the page.  Careful   attention to detail in the object and background.
